Università della Svizzera italiana continues the USI incontra lecture series with another world-renowned guest, following the debut that featured sports executive Jean Todt. The second encounter on Tuesday, 1 October at 6:15 pm in the West Campus Lugano Aula magna, will feature the renowned Italian-American physicist and inventor Federico Faggin.

A pioneer in the field of microelectronics, Faggin is hailed as the father of the microprocessor. "Before him, the Silicon Valley was just the Valley," said Bill Gates. Therefore, the encounter on 1 October will be a unique opportunity to revisit the pivotal moments in his remarkable career, from inventing the touchpad and touchscreen to establishing innovative start-ups and his current focus on consciousness research.

In dialogue with Marcello Foa, journalist and USI lecturer Federico Faggin will share highlights of his career, research and reflections in a talk titled "Beyond perceptions: fascinating and mysterious quantum physics". The interview will be held in Italian.

At the end of the interview, you'll have the opportunity to purchase Federico Faggin's latest book, Oltre l'invisibile: Dove scienza e spiritualità si uniscono, and the author will be available for a book signing session.

The event is free of charge and open to the public while seats last. Registration is mandatory at this link.
